My Story
by Martha

Leo said to me, “I could work on your back until I’m blue in the face and you will still have back pain.” Let me back up…

I have moderate scoliosis. I began working out 4-5 times a week 14 years ago. A few years ago I had a shoulder injury resulting in surgery 7 months later. That was followed by a diagnosis of osteoporosis (loss of bone density) for which I was prescribed a medication called Actonel. A couple common side effects of Actonel are body aches and ‘bone pain’. Unfortunately, I started to have these symptoms when I began the medication close to two years ago.

By fall of last year I felt like a tightly wound spring every morning upon waking. I felt constant lower back pain. While doing the dishes I would try to ease the pain in my back by leaning on my forearms at the sink. I lost motivation to do things I used to do because I felt so miserable and exhausted. I was wearing down and knew I had to look for something that would effectively counter this feeling of misalignment and daily pain.

I decided to try deep tissue massage and started looking for a therapist. On the recommendation of a couple co-workers I found Leo. Their opinion was that he is more than a massage therapist. He is a healer. This is the absolute truth!

I had a massage treatment once a week for three weeks, after which Leo suggested we try one treatment every other day for three more treatments. My body was so misaligned that this was necessary in order to get it to the point where I could take over with daily maintenance. After my first treatment I felt like I was walking on air! However, it didn’t take long before I started slipping back, but with each treatment that followed I was feeling better.

Leo definitely knows what he’s doing. Another thing that really impressed me was that he took the time to instruct me as to how I could continue treatment on my own using tennis balls, a nerf ball and a towel. He demonstrated the techniques and explained how and why they would help me.

I use these techniques daily. I admit that I’m still on a learning curve and because of that I have caused myself injury from time to time. I’m getting better, though! And I’m reaping the benefits of utilizing Leo’s methods (with the exception of having no excuse for not washing the dishes anymore).

The explanation of the initial comment at the beginning of my story… Leo taught me that the pain settling in one particular area of the body actually ORIGINATES somewhere else in the body. In my case, the lower back pain begins with tight leg muscles. Fascinating stuff! Thanks to his techniques I am able to relieve an unbelievably large amount of that pain. At this time I am feeling 75% better and can maintain up to a month before I get another massage treatment. I am feeling much more centered than I have felt in a very long time.

LEO HAS BEEN A BLESSING!
